How to be happy even if you don’t have that new cool stuff?

Trends, come and go.. And those who are always in trend are noticeably happier than those out of trend.. Here comes the ipad, person A buys the ipad, person B doesn’t.. When they meet, person B saw person A’s ipad and got jealous and wanted to buy one too.. Obviously person A is happier than person B, in that scenario.. However if person B changes his frame of mind from being "jealous he doesn’t have an ipad", to being "happy that he just saved a big ton of cash for not buying a cool useless device", he would be happy as well.. Think of it this way, every time you get jealous of something you don’t have just alter your frame of mind and believe that you don’t need that stuff.. Sometimes there are these things that appear so cool and makes us want to want it so much but when we already have it, it makes us realize that we don’t really need it.. It’s just feelings that are temporary and if you alter your state of mind to "you don’t want it", eventually you will not want it.. It goes for everything not just an ipad.. However sometimes in life comes a time when you would say, "I really need that".. That’s when you buy that certain thing.. Again NEED is different from WANT.. Keep life simple... Have a nice day

ipad, Should i buy or should i not?

I wrote an article about buying stuff long time ago.. However i would like to share some more insights regarding this topic. Recently there have been some new devices which are placed between computers and mobile devices.. I’m not referring to the netbooks as i believe netbooks are still computers.. Their just a lot smaller and cheaper.. I’m referring to devices like ipads.. Don’t get me wrong i do like the ipad, in fact my sister has one.. But if you ask me, would i buy one?.. No! Due to the fact that i consider it as a TREND not as a NECESSITY.. Trends would click today then fade away tomorrow.. Necessity on the other hand is what you really need and you would be using for a while.. Before buying some device or stuff, ask your self do you really need it?.. Could you do without?.. For example the ipad, could you live without it.. I know i can.. One thing i noticed is that owners of ipads still spend more time in their computers than on their ipad.. I asked them why and they said, "Well i simply can do more on my computer".. Then i asked them why'd they buy the ipad and they said "its cool!".. They simply buy that kind of stuff because they want it coz it’s cool not because they really need it.. There you go, another want vs need statement.. Do you want it or do you need it.. Remember that always when you buy stuff..

One last thing.. I’m not and apple hater,, in my family, we have an ipad, an iphone and a macbook.. I’m just stating my thoughts regarding Trend vs Necessity...

Keeping up with technology.. Should you buy or not? ..

Each day, new and new technologies appear.. Buy a phone now and in a few months, your gonna need to replace it coz there's something new..

But do you really need to replace it?.. Actually its all a choice if you have to replace it or not.. Technology trends change too fast.. And there are only few who could catch up with it.. You gotta have to be super rich to keep up in the race..

However there are a ways to somehow catch up with trend, without actually having to buy each and every product out in the market.. Here's the thing, a handy tip.. First you have to learn how to differentiate a "revolution" from an "evolution"..

An evolution is a gradual change from the the idea or concept.. For example, you have phone with 3.2 megapixel camera, then the new thing that comes up is a 5 megapixel camera.. That's an example of an evolution.. A small change or gradual increase on the idea or a feature.. Another good example could be a camera with a single LED as their first product, then it evolves, then they release a second
product with a dual LED light..

A revolution on the other hand is a sudden change on the idea or a completely new concept.. For example the in cellphones.. The first product had no camera.. Their next product has camera.. That's a revolution.. Another good example is the revolution which iphone made.. At first cellphones had keypads, then after the iphone
revolution, touchscreens are the in thing..

Revolutions are what we need to be on a look out for.. Because these are when trends trip and change to a whole new page.. As for evolution, even though we get late, were still on the same page as the others.. Hope you guys get the idea..

Differentiating an evolution from a revolution is hard to learn but you'll get the hang of it once you start noticing it.. And its gonna save you a lot of money in the long run but keep you cool at all times..

Religion also has a small tip for you guys.. "Learn to be contented with what you have".. enough said..

Should you learn VB6 or VB.Net (VB 2008 express)

There are a couple of scenarios to this..
1. You know VB6 but don't know if you should make the switch to VB.net
2. You know a couple of other languages (i.e. java, c++, python), but have never tried VB
3. You don't know any programming language, but cant decide whether to study VB6 or VB.net

So here a few things to keep in mind..
• Although VB6 is the predecessor of VB.net, They language is too different to be considered the same computer language
• Both are VERY easy to learn
• VB6 is more popular, well not really, the amount of VB.net user are surpassing if not have already..
• Both are very powerful languages.. You can do almost anything with either of them..
• Both are pretty stable
• VB 6 is considered obsolete and no longer supported by Microsoft

So whats my take on this?..
Well its simple, go with the flow..
• If you know VB6, there's no harm in learning VB.net and adjusting yourself.. Its quite easy.. At least you move on..
• If you already have experience in other languages, learning VB.net is quite easy and very rewarding..
• If you don't know any programming language at all here's an easy one to learn if you wanna jump into GUI (graphical user interface) programming immediately.. Another good first programming language i would recommend is, Python.

BTW, Visual Basic 2010 Express is out and its free to download and Microsoft's site.. Just give it a Google search.. Its pretty easy to find..

These are two online services which enable us to access our files anywhere.. I'll be discussing what both MyCast Orb and Ovi Files can do and what are the unique features in each on of them..

Lets start with their similarities..
- FREE!
- They are both easy to install and setup.
- Site supports a desktop and a mobile version
- Built in Search
- Sharing files to other people

Here are unique features of MyCast ORB
- supports streaming!.. Verybig plus, this means you could watch your video files just instantly without having to download the entire file.. You could just stream and play it instantly.. Quality of streaming will depend on the speed of the internet..
- webcam support.. You could view your webcam from anywhere.. even on a cellphone.. its like live streaming however i noticed i always get about 7-14 second delay..

Here are unique features of OviFiles
- Very small footprint, Perfect for netbooks
- More simplicity in the software and website
- Anytime Files (10GB)

Thats about it.. Basically the choice would be depending on the user.. Which among the unique features would be valuable to him or her.. Of your the kind of person like my sister who keeps alot of videos and music and would like to play these often, then MyCast Orb is the way to go.. The ability to view webcam is a really good plus too.. But for others like me, who use lowpowered netbooks, Ovi files minimalism is a better choice since it wouldnt slow down your beloved netbook at all.. Its as if it just wasnt there.. I dont really watch videos repeatedly like my sister does.. I just find ovi files handy if ever i left a file from my PC, i could access it easily, anywhere..

Access your Files Anywhere with Ovi Files

Accessing your files remotely is really a new thing, however it was too complicated for an average joe it set it up.. Ovi Files just made things alot simplier!.. As in, its really simple.. Just download and install the Ovi files connector on your computer and sign it in with an ovi user account which is FREE by the way and your ready to go..

You can access your files from any computer or even any mobile device simply by logging in at files.ovi.com.. I like the way the site was designed and it simplicity which i really liked..

Heres the catch though, your computer must always be turned on and connected to the internet in order for you to access your files.. Thats no pretty logical.. However one nifty little trick nokia gave us is the so called "Anytime Files".. Its bascially an option to have your have your files uploaded to ovi's server so you could access your files even if your computer is turned off.. Each user is given a 10GB storage for "Anytime Files".. That good enough considering its a free service..

Ovi files also allow you to share certain folders to other people.. These files could be stored to your Anytime Files so the person whom you gave the link to access a shared folder in your computer could see the files even if your computer is offline.. Thats cool huh.. And it could all be done via a mobile device.. It also supports multiple computers in a single account so you could login once and access files from all your computers.. You can preview photos or documents without needing other softwares..

Oh and one other thing, this app isnt resource hungry unlike Mycast ORB which is also a similar service.. Its very light and perfect for netbooks!.. I installed it all my laptops at home and keep it on always so i could access all my files anywhere, anytime with any computer or any mobile device..

This is by far one of the best things i've seen from nokia.. I highly suggest you give it a try..

What is an RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.. The question is what is
really simple syndication?

Well think of it like this, instead of you having to visit ALL your
favorite sites just to check them for new posts and updates, why not
just visit one page and have ALL the updates and new post from ALL of
your favorite sites there. That would be alot lot easier, wouldnt it..
Well thats basically RSS.. Its a web standard format for sharing and distributing Web content..

Heres what you need for RSS to work..
1. RSS feed reader
2. RSS feeds

RSS feed reader or sometimes called as News Aggregator, is a site or a
program that collects all new posts or updates from your favorite
site.. I recommend that you use Google Reader as your RSS Reader.. I
will discuss how to use google reader on another post.. For now, it is
just important to understand RSS first..

Next, RSS feeds or sometimes called web feed or news feed.. These are
like links or addresses where your RSS feed reader will constantly
monitor for new posts.. RSS feed are normally provided by most
websites and blogs like mine.. Most sites would say something like
click here to subscribe.. Those are usually their RSS feeds..

Know you know what RSS is go ahead and try it out..

Here at mini maxima, we always choose quality over quantity.. We choose simplicity and ease of software usability rather than having programs with tons of settings which no one actually use.. First contender, Apple!.. They have their own operating system, Mac OSX, their own line of computers and laptops, all MACs, their own mobile device, iphone, and soon the ipad.. They have their app store with itunes, what else could you ask for?..

Second contender, Microsoft!.. Who has never used their operating system has definitly been living under a rock.. Lets admit it, even linux geeks and apple fanboys often come back to windows every now and then.. They have their own email service and messenger, windows live.. They have an entire office suite, which even has an online version of it.. They own one of the biggest search engine, Bing, and they also have their own mapping software, bing maps.. On the mobile industry, windows 7 mobile is generating alot of hype at the moment..

Third contender, Google!.. i know you were expecting this.. Google owns internet as we all know.. Google own the best search engine, google search, the most famous mapping system, google maps.. They have their own photo sharing site, picasa, their own blogging site, blogger, their own email service, gmail, their own, video sharing site, youtube.. They have an upcoming OS, chrome OS, and they currently have their own mobile OS android and lot more online services..

Fourth company, Yahoo.. Yahoo's flahship, yahoo mail! is the most common email service around.. Yahoo own the most popular IM, yahoo messenger.. They have their own yahoo maps and their own photo sharing site, flickr.. They have their own music service, yahoo music too..

Fifth, contender, Nokia.. You didnt expect this one here, but this is one of my favorites.. They have a lots and lots of phones to choose from.. They have their own email service too.. Havent you heard, ovi mail?.. They have their own music store and ovi app store too.. They have a pretty decent photo sharing site too.. I know most of their products if not all are inferior to their competitors, but i like their simplicity and the tight integration of their services to their devices..

Next we have, Facebook.. Well they don't really have that much services, but they cater all.. I know a few people who use the internet for facebook alone.. Facebook has everything your social life needs.. They have photo sharing, video sharing, and lots and lots of social games.. The fun part in facebook is that, everything can be connected to your friends.. And they have a built in chat that is enabled through out the entire website..

Lastly, Twitter.. Well twitter.. It a microblogging site.. I dont know what its for but i have one!.. Haha.. I just like their minimalistic approach.. Its cool how they can do so much with just 140 characters..

As for me, i use a combination of them all.. Google sear, yahoo mail, ovi for my phone, facebook for my social life, and i dont really know why, but i have a twitter too.. No apples for me though..

Convergence of Mobile Devices and PC

One question that I've been asking my self recently is, "Will mobile device evolve to Personal Computers or will Personal Computers evolve to mobile device"?

Computer's are getting smaller if you noticed.. From Cabinet computers, to desktop units, to laptops, then netbooks, and soon, tablets..

Mobile Devices on the other hand are dedicated devices such as cameras, video cam, mp3 player, cellphone, etc.. Phones are small devices used for calling, but can now, play games, music, podcasts, record videos, take pictures, edit photos, edit videos, and access the internet.. You can even write short programs directly on your phone, using Python.. Mobile devices are converging.. Some mobile devices even have full fledged operating system such as ubuntu.. In short, their becoming as powerful as personal computers.

The gap between personal computers and mobile devices is getting thin, as they converge.. Soon, we'll just be needing one device.. I just cant wait!..

Why convertible tablet suck! (now)

This topic came into my mind when i saw the new ASUS Eee PC T101MT.. Yeah, it look kinda cool, but it ain't new people!.. Convertible tablets have been around for decades.. The only reason why they did'nt sell quite well back in the days was because of their price range.. but because of the advent of net-books, computers became cheaper and cheaper.. And now, since touch screen is the new fab, convertible laptops are rapidly emerging.. Another reason why convertibles failed back in the days was because of user interface.. It was not intuitive to use a touch screen on a windows based computer.. Except Windows 7 BTW, which is kinda getting touch friendly..

The problem with touch screen on net-books these days is due to the fact that net-books are low powered and thus the touch screen gets unresponsive most of the time.. So far, i haven't seen any net-book that didn't require you to touch the screen a couple of times before you get a response..

Apple seems to be the only one good with touchscreen these days.. Its partly due to the fact that their devices run an OS that was designed to be purely operated by touch of the fingers.. and partly due to the hardware they implemented.. Capacitive screens are good with fingers..

Touch screen just looks cool but its not too intuitive(yet!).. I know i said convertibles suck.. But what i really i mean is that they suck now, but actually touchscreen have a lots and lots of potential.. If only developers seriously focus on making touchscreens work they way they should..

Even if touch screens suck, people see it as a cool thing, thus still people will still buy them.. I would buy one, if they only just work!..

Python - The Minimalist Programming Language

Im personally familiar with a lot of programming languages, but to be honest, im not a master of anyone of them.. I just somehow know the basics of most of them.. The languages which i used so far are, HTML, JavaScript, Visual Basic, C++, Java, Perl, and now my newest favorite, Python!..

Why, you might ask?..

Well, its easy, Its easy and its easy!.. Personally, i'm a minimalist kind of guy.. Maybe thats why i love python so much.. The language is designed to be easily understood by programmers unlike C++ which is like, gibrish, even to novice programmers.. I always wanted to master C++, but when ever i start touching GUI, i get a migraine.. Java is quite Easier however, when compared to Python, I'd pick python anyday..

Python has is a must for rapid development.. I cant stress enough how much i admire this language.. But to those of you who are just beginning in the programming world, i suggest you start with this language..

On the negative side though, because python is an interpreted language, it is much slower in terms of speed when compared to hardcore C++ or Java.. However, since out machines are pretty capable these days, the difference isn't noticeable, unless of course were talking about large apps.. But for the small handy instant apps, python is the best way to go..

More apples! From apple!.. "Ipad!"

Now who doesnt know about apples new branch from its ever growing tree.. Im talking about the ipad!.. If you havent heard of it yet, you better ask your grand ma.. She'd probably know..

Tablets have been around for ages, buts whats all the fuzz about this particular tablet?.. Or shall we call it pad?!.. It probably has something to do with the magical letter "i" that apple loves putting in ther products.. You know, like the "i"phone, or the "i"mac.. You get what i mean.. The magical apple "i"..

But seriously, what makes this device intriguing is the operating system its running.. Although it doesnt have a camera, which apple probably intended (marketing strategy, shhhhh.. ).. It still gonna sell like pancakes..

As for is specs, well, its alittle bit less than a netbook.. As i said, the operating system is what makes this device stand out.. As for the price its just like anyother netbook.. But considering its an apple device, its pretty cheap..

All in one IM + social network

As of today, ive been using a couple of social networks and instant messenger.. To be specific, i use a yahoo messenger, gtalk by google, i also have browser open for my twitter account, and my facebook account, which also has an online chat which is cool for short live messages, could get frustrating for an hour long chatting experience..

Well, pretty much thats what we all use.. I use a netbook my primary machine, which have probably seen in my old posts.. My beloved asus 1000h, which is a year old btw.. Well, our computer have limited memory, and when we have all these applications running in the background most of the time, our computers get ssssslllllooooowwww.. A brower alone on twitter could take up to 200+ mb of your memory.. It would eat alot more if you open up facebook.. Yahoo messenger seems to eat as much memory as a browser too.. Well i wonder how much is left for me to use..

Well, that was a long intro..
Anyway, to procede to the solution
digsby!.. Yeah digsby.. Thats the name of the program. Well what is digby?..

It handles all your yahoo accounts, yup multiple yahoo accounts.. It can manage your google messenger too, facebook chat, facebook updates, twitter updates, yahoo mail checker, google mail checker, and alot more services.. The nice part of it is that they all seem integrated to one user interface, which is skinable..

You dont even have to login your accounts one by one every time you go online.. You just need to login one digsby account, and all the rest will be logged in..

I suggest you give it a shot.. Just google it up.. It pretty easy to find a download link..

My Phone Explorer (Sony Ericsson Sync)

I know there are alot of Sync Softwares out there but if you never tried MyPhoneExplorer yet, then your missing alot.. I have been using this program for about 3 years now, and because of this software, I have been using Sony Ericsson Phones ever since.. It does everything plus alittle bit more in very compact package (3.7mb)..

In this article i'll review the Main functions of My Phone Explorer..

First off, Contacts..

Its alot easier cleaning up those names, number, email, address, etc. in a PC rather than the mini smallish phone screen, Believe me!.. Better yet, you can sync your phone contacts to your outlook or even you Gmail account.. Or if not, maybe just save a back up in case of emergency..

In the Calls menu, you just can see your recent call log, nothing much here..

Next the Organizer,

You could again sync your organizer to your Gmail account or to a file.. One nice thing here is that you get to see the entire calendar on a bigger screen making it alot more easier to organize.. Your notes and alarm are also editable here..

Then, my favorite, the Messaging department.. We Filipinos are fond of texting.. In fact, we use it as like our Instant Messengers.. But like everyone else, i know its kindda tiring to write messages on a phone.. But with this software you could read messages and even reply to them using your keyboard..

Theres also a file manager to view files on stored on the Phone and on the Memory card.. And yes, you can open them.. They can also be sync'd on the PC but i dont do that coz it kindda takes a long time to sync a 1gb memcard on bluetooth connection..

As i said this software is complete.. It even has the option to see the phones temp, battery's charge, voltage, IMIE, provider, singal, etc..

Oh, and also the option to see the memory status of every thing on the Phone.. Sigh..

When im at home, i never touch my phone anymore.. I just connect my Phone to my PC via bluetooth, and everything I need is in MyPhoneExplorer..

How to download, Torrents

I know alot of people who are complete noobs in downloading but want to use torrent to download.. Im not going to explain what a torrent is, but i will explain how to use it..

First download a torrent client..

I suggest using utorrent..

Get it at http://utorrent.com and install it..

I assume u can do that on your own..

Once your done, head to a torrent catalog website

I suggest http://www.thepiratebay.org

Once in thepiratebay site, you would see a search bar.. Use that to search what ever you want to download.. Music, Movies, or whatever..

In the results page

SE - stands for "Seeds", that is the number of uploaders

LE - stands for "Leechers", this is the numbers of downloaders

Pick which file you wanna download.. Note that files with higher number of seeds, download faster.. You could click the word "SE" to sort the files by number of seeders/uploaders..

To download the torrent, click the double down arrow which is color green located under the name of the torrent..

After clicking it and you would download a small torrent file.. Open the file and it will open up in utorrent.. Then just click the "ok" button and the download will begin..

Once the download in utorrent is done, your downloaded file will be saved in the downloads folder, located in your My documents..

Thats it.. Hope that helps..

By the way, once your done, downloading files, Please seed them before deleting them..

Have you ever seen those movies where in, the guy sits on his PC and it automatically logs in?.. Well here a cool way of logging in to your PC, with out even touching it.. Well here comes lemon screen..

Lemon Screen (formerly banana screen) uses your face as a log in password.. First you must enroll/create a face model of you for identification.. Just make sure your face is recognized properly, sometimes, lighting conditions may change you face model.. There's a bar on the right to show how well your face is detected.. Anyway once a good model is taken, you could press (alt+L) to lock the screen or you could also set it to lock when inactive for a certain time.. Once the computer has been locked, your computer will monitor all the faces that appear on your camera.. Once it matches your face it will immediately log in..

This way your smile will be your log in password.. One of the features i liked was it automatically logs out if ever i forget to log out.. But the best thing about this program is that it is FREE!.. Now go try it for your self..

ZoomIt - a screen zoomer

I've been using linux for quite sometime, and i really love it.. The only thing that kindda sucked was most of the nice softwares were on windows.. One thing i really missed in linux is the compiz effects, specifically the one that zooms in the screen in real time.. That was really essential for people like me who kindda have near sighted eyes.. I am currently using a small netbook, ASUS EEE1000h which just has a 10.2 inch screen.. A few weeks ago, i noticed i reqularly stick my face on the screen just to read what was written on it.. Thats when i remembered the compiz stuff that i had in my other linux mint box.. I kept on tryin to search for an app for windows that can zoom in the screen just like the one in linux's compiz.. I tried alot of software, and the closest one i found was ZoomIt, which is actually given to us by microsoft.. I dont remember the exact link i got it from, but its quite easy to find in google.. The program is quite small, you can keep it running at all times and the best thing about it is that its free..

When you run the program, you'll see its icon at the system tray indicating that its now running.. To zoom in you just have to press +<1> then use your mouse to pan the screen and your mouse scroll to zoom in further.. ZoomIt also has an annotate feature which i dont really use so i didnt bother for the controls anymore..

The only downside with this program is that unlike Linux's Compiz, its does not run in realtime.. In linux for example, you can watch a video and zoom in on it and you can still see the video moving.. But with ZoomIt, it just takes like a picture of the screen, and thats all that you can zoom in on.. It does not move..

Well i guess thats just about it.. Hope you find the app useful too..

Over Clocking EEE 1000h

i have seen in a lot of forums, people wanting to over clocking their Atom netbooks.. Well there are lots of ways of overclocking.. But the safest way i know of is thru the tiny app called EEECTL.. I say its safe coz i havent heard of any broken netbook because of this app.. If you wanna try it, do it at your own risk.. I am not resposible for any broken laptop.. Im just showing you how to do it..

Once you've downloaded the file for your netbook, extract the contents to any folder. Then just simply run the program eeectl.exe..
note: (Make sure you close the program "super hybrid engine" first if it is running before running the eeectl.exe)

Once EEECTL is running you would see its icon in the system tray.. Its icon shows your CPU temperature.. Just right click the icon and choose what CPU speed you wanna use..

The higher the speed the more consumption of battery..
The less speed CPU speed the longer your battery lasts..

Remember to plug in your netbook to an outlet to reach maximum efficiency..

Theres a big possiblity that your netbook might get stuck or hung up if you reach high CPU speeds, but just simply removing the power cord and battery for a few minutes and switching it back on restores your computer..

As far as i know, correct me if im wrong, with my EEE 1000h I only reach the maximum speed of 1890mhz, coz i only have 1gb ram.. I think others reach 2ghz because they upgraded their's to 2gb..

Asus EEE 1000H

Hey guys I finally bought my very own netbook.. Its an Asus EEE 1000h Netbook..

10.2 inch LCD display
CPU - Intel Atom 1.6Ghz
RAM - 1GB
Hard Disk - 80GB
Windows XP

It has built in wifi, webcam, bluetooth, mic of course speakers.. Actually it has dolby Speakers.. Well it was kindda written on the sticker on the laptop.. Oh i mean netbook..

Anyway, I have been playing with this netbook thing for quite a while now.. So far its doesnt feel like a netbook, since its quite as fast and responsive as my old Vaio Laptop (VGN-FS550) which i handed over to my cuzin.. I felt sad giving away that laptop though, coz it was kindda like 3 times more expensive than this netbook.. Although this netbook seems to be like 3 times lighter than that old thing.. I even carry my netbook to school everyday in my backpack, and people didnt notice that i was carrying a real computer in my small backpack.. ahahaha..

About the performance of this littlle toy, i manage to play The Sims 2 plus a few expansion packs.. I amazes me, coz i didnt think it could handle such a heavy game.. I also tried GTA San Andreas on it and it was actually playable.. I'm planning to change my RAM to 2Gb when i have enough money, but the 1Gb is quite acceptable for now..

The CPU of the EEE 1000h was an intel Atom Processor clocked at 1.6ghz, but it could be overclocked to 1.7Ghz by using a pre installed Asus App called "Super Hybrid Engine".. But if your like me you could put the pedal to the metal and squeeze a little bit more juice out of this thing.. I got a 1890MHZ using a 3rd party app called EEECTL..

The only problem i had at first was the screen size looked kindda small to me.. But since ive been using it for quite a while now, it seems to be normal and quite acceptable for everyday use.. When i'm at home I just connect it to my 20 inch LCD, and viola.. I got a full fledged desktop PC..

Microsoft Cloud

Windows upcoming OS aka Microsoft Cloud coming really soon!.. Btw, this is a separate project from "Windows 7" which is is the successor of Windows Vista..

The world is shifting to towards WEB OS/Clouds.. That means everything is entirely being shifted towards the WEB.. Everything is now online like photos, videos, documents, spreadsheets, etc.. Google is one of the pioneers in this field with their Google Docs.. Google has a full office suite online which can be opened anywhere.. All you need is an internet browser in your computer then google provides the entire office suite and data online which is kindda heavy and slow for low class internet connections..

Microsoft however is moving with a different game plan with Microsoft Cloud.. The users will be having the most of software offline and only the data will be sent online.. Therefore reducing the required internet transfers and increasing speed and stability since most is already saved offline..

The problem however will be that you will be needing Microsoft Cloud to open your documents and stuff unlike google, all you will be needing is a browser.. But I think microsoft will have a solution for this, like they always do.. If not, well say hello to linux..

Why linux cant replace windows or mac..

Linux is for programming guru's..

Mac is for rich kids..

Windows is for the rest of the world..

Mac is a good and stable operating system but is quite expensive to maintain..
Linux is easy to use, but as soon as something goes wrong, ur gonna have to find a linux guru..

Windows is the main stream, if anything goes wrong, ask ur neighbor coz almost everyone knows windows!.. If windows was so bad, why does everyone use windows.. Think about..

BTW, i personally used a dual boot machine Linux/Windows..

Ideal Phone

Now for the shout out to phone makers..
We need the IDEAL STUDENT PHONE!!
Please make these one.. The things we students need from our phones are the following..

-It must have a large screen.. now a days a 2.4 inch screen should be the minimum screen size.. ahahaha..

-It must play music well.. Well everyone uses their phone for music today.. standalone Mp3 players are so 1980's.. the problem we have with our mp3 phones today is the 3.5mm earphone jack!.. Why dont we all just stick to the standards!.. The Sony ericsson phones need adaptors which is really really anoying since you have to bring that long wire everywhere!.. 3.5mm is a must!

-It must have an autofocus camera - We take quick macro snaps of notes every now and then.. Autofocus must be a standard for all phones.. A two or three megapixel cam with autofocus is important to us, the xenon might me useful for some, but maybe not all..

-It must be small and portable - we don’t like carrying heavy gigantic bricks in our pockets!.. It must be just as small as the K750, and even slimmer.. It should weigh less than 100 grams to be considered small..

-It must be compatible to Java Apps – that’s all we need.. Java games and apps are getting good these days.. There are pocket dictionaries and scientific calculators, unit converters and other small apps that could be useful..

-It must be cheap!.. we dont need all those GPS stuff, were just going to school, we dont need HSDPA, or other 3G video stuffs, we cant afford them.. Wifi might be cool for some, but maybe not for all since wifi spots are limited.. and besides, net cafes are everywhere and researching on big computer screens are alot easier.. i dont know anyone making a research on a phone..

-Good Design - it must be appealing to look at since most insults come from classmates everyday.. A phone that looks like crap would be shameful to have.. it must have a good look and wow factor like the iphone..

We need a minimalist phone!.. To sum it up..
The phone must be small and portable, with a fairly Huge screen, mp3 player with 3.5mm earphone jack, autofocus camera, Java capable, that looks good and it must be CHEAP!!

Now phone makers, thats not thats hard to provide right?..
Hope to see that phone in the market soon

My Phone History

I've been using mobile phones for a long long time now.. The trend is having a convergent device.. Ive tried simple phones and complicated PDA's but as a student, i only have limited funds, limited specific need and must be in style!..

I use to have a Nokia 6600 phone, and fell in love with it.. I've got it loaded with tons of apps and stuff.. I told myself that this is gonna be my phone forever!.. But then, thru the years the sound of the speakers annoyed me to the point that i cant bare it anymore..

My dad then bought me an expensive Sony Ericsson, P910i phone.. Its got this huge touch screen and cute qwerty keypad which still amazes me until now.. The p910 had amazing speakers and can play MP3's almost like an MP3 player.. That’s why i don’t use an MP3 player anymore.. I dont think Mp3 Players have any use anymore since almost all phone can play music, but the all suck in playing music thru its built in loud speaker.. on the other hand, mP3 players don’t even have speakers at all hahaha.. Anyway, after a few years, i noticed the camera of my P910 sucks compared to new phones which were packed in megapixels!.. The P910's VGA cam started to look poor..

I replaced my phone to a cute little pocket able Sony Ericsson K750i which has an amazing autofocus capability.. I normally take notes by taking pictures of them!.. I even take pictures of important information’s from books in the library at school.. I know we students do this often.. I like the phone coz it was small, handy and can play music very well.. The only problem i had is that the joystick kindda got broken in a few months..

Now i own a sony ericsson K800 phone which is good for taking pictures of notes.. I has xenon flash which can ensure that the notes i take are readable and not blurred like the K750 sometimes.. Anyway the problem with it now is its kindda fat, and the screen is kindda smallish!.. The trend are slim phone and large screens!..
I need an ideal student Phone!.. which I’ll describe in my next blog..
